LIGHTS, CAMERA, COMMUNITY
For 25 years, WIJFF has brought audiences together through film, creating space for connection, conversation, and shared experience.
“We’re really excited about this year’s festival, especially as we celebrate 25 years,” said Laura Marjovsky, Director of Programming at the Rady JCC. “There’s something incredibly special about sitting in a theatre together and experiencing these stories as a community. This year’s lineup has so much heart, humour, and depth, and we can’t wait for audiences to discover it.”
The 2026 program features standout films from Israel, the United States, France, Germany, and beyond, continuing the festival’s tradition of showcasing global Jewish voices and perspectives.
“This festival has always been about more than just watching films,” Marjovsky added. “It’s about creating moments. Whether it’s a conversation after a screening, a reaction you share with someone beside you, or a story that stays with you long after you leave the theatre.”
Among the highlights is the opening night film Fantasy Life, a witty and heartfelt comedy featuring an all-star cast, followed by a celebratory reception to kick off the festival in style.
“There’s an incredible range this year,” said Karen Burshtein, longtime WIJFF Producer. “We have films that are joyful and nostalgic, films that are deeply emotional, and others that really challenge and provoke thought. It’s a privilege to be able to showcase the work of so many talented filmmakers and diverse voices. That balance is what makes a festival like this so special.”
The festival also includes unique special events and screenings across the city. The popular ‘Shorts on Sherbrook’ returns to The Handsome Daughter, offering a lively evening of short films in a casual setting, while a special screening of La Cache takes place at the Centre Culturel Franco-Manitobain.
Other notable films this year include powerful documentaries like A Letter to David, an intimate and moving story shaped by real world events, and We Met at Grossingers, a vibrant look back at a defining era of Jewish American culture.
Audiences can also look forward to compelling international features such as The Sea, Nandauri, and Rosenthal: The Great Showman, each offering unique and unforgettable perspectives.
The festival closes on a high note with The Floaters, a warm and funny celebration of Jewish summer camp life, complete with a closing night reception and special guest appearance by producer Shai Korman.
“And be sure to wear your camp sweatshirts!”, Burshtein added. “It’s a multi-generation fave. I know all our attendees are going to love this.”
