JFest WPG is back!

Expect electrifying music, iconic cinematic moments that will move your soul, and the best kids’ festival in town.

JFest WPG is a joyful celebration of Jewish culture, embracing a rich past, and blazing a path into a dynamic future. You don’t need to be Jewish to take part in JFest - you just need to enjoy having fun!

The festivities begin at Seven Oaks Performing Arts Centre, with a concert by Israeli star of stage and TV, Harel Skaat. From there, families will be thrilled to hear KidFest is back and better than ever. Then, enjoy an exclusive book launch, two films that brought the house down at the Winnipeg International Jewish Film Festival. Flatland Famous returns this year to keep the stories (and the music) coming with “The Jewish Soul of Rock n’ Roll - Part 2”. To close out this epic lineup, Winnipeg Folk Fest favourite Ben Caplan has designed a show just for JFest audiences that will be a grand finale you won’t want to miss.

Monday, November 16 | 7:00 p.m.
Rady JCC | Berney Theatre
$14 General Admission

Steve Guttenberg, Seth Green, and Sarah Podemsky head up a feel-good comedy with a huge helping of summer camp nostalgia.

Freshly ousted from her rock band on the eve of a European tour, Nomi takes a last-resort job from her best friend Mara at their childhood Jewish summer camp. While camp director Mara deals with a busted septic system, she tasks Nomi with supervising a group of misfit teens called “The Floaters.”

This film was a fast sell-out at the Winnipeg International Jewish Film Festival. Now’s your chance to catch this audience favourite on the big screen again.

Share the laughs and emotion as we take you back to Camp Daveed in this encore performance.

We Met at Grossingers (‘Best of the Fest’ featured film)

Thursday, November 19 | 7:00 p.m.
Rady JCC | Berney Theatre
$14 General Admission

This is the story of Grossingers, where Henny Youngman, Milton Berle, Jackie Mason and so many more got their start.

Decades of prejudice against Jewish immigrants in America necessitated folks finding spaces they could call their own. Grossinger’s Resort in New York’s Catskills was an oasis of belonging. It was a place where Jews and others from marginalized communities could take a break from the city.

Director Paula Eiselt brings you back to this vanished world of belonging, laughter and a celebration of rich Jewish culture. This “Best-of-the-Fest” screening gives you one more chance to enjoy this film that was an early sell-out at the Winnipeg International Jewish Film Festival.

A documentary with a comedic and cultural heart of gold you won’t want to miss.

Ben Caplan: My Jewish Roots

Saturday, November 21 | 8:00 p.m.
Rady JCC | Berney Theatre
$35 General Admission

Get ready for Eastern European folk with contemporary flair.

With a larger-than-life stage presence, Ben Caplan takes audiences on a powerful, poetic, deeply human musical journey. Born in Nova Scotia, Ben’s songwriting and background come from his experience in the diaspora, and his catchy, moving melodies echo a life lived as a Canadian Jew. His latest album, The Flood, grapples with fear, faith, hope, and renewal.

Folk Fest fans in Winnipeg will recognize Ben’s name from recent years, but this November, Ben is planning a show exclusively for JFest. At this concert, Ben will perform songs that celebrate the Jewish roots of his identity and his exquisite songwriting.
