Team spirit. Big energy. One unforgettable summer.

Get ready to cheer for the Rady JCC’s
Team Winnipeg delegation at the 2026 JCC Maccabi Games in Toronto.

Let the Games Begin!

From August 2 to 7, 2026, Jewish teens from around the world will come together in Toronto for a week filled with Olympic-style competition, celebration, and connection.

Competing in sports like basketball, volleyball, swimming and dance, Team Winnipeg is ready to do their community proud!

Show your support

Each athlete and their is paying their own way to represent Winnipeg at the games. While there are some financial assistance programs in the works, the team would definitely benefit from additional support. If you’d like to make a donation to help the team cover their appearance at the games, please email Coach Boris Bursak for details. The majority of donations are tax deductible!

What are the JCC Maccabi Games?

The JCC Maccabi Games are an Olympic-style competition for Jewish teens ages 13–17. Every summer, thousands of teens from across North America, Israel, and beyond come together to compete in sports, build friendships, celebrate Jewish identity, and give back through community service.

The Games promote values like:

  • Rachmanus (sportsmanship)
  • Tikkun Olam (repairing the world)
  • Kavod (respect)
  • Rina (joy)
  • Ga’ava (pride)
  • Lev Tov (kindness)
  • Amiut Yehudit (Jewish peoplehood)

It’s an amazing mix of athletics, fun, values, and community.

Who participates?

  • Jewish teens ages 13–17
(Must be 13 by August 2, 2026, and not turn 18 before August 7, 2026)
  • Athletes identify as Jewish and be raised in a Jewish home.

What sports is Winnipeg’s delegation competing in?

  • 3v3 Basketball (boys & girls)
  • Swimming (boys & girls)
  • Volleyball (girls)
  • Dance (boys & girls)

How competitive are the Games?

It varies! Some athletes are elite competitors, while others are there for the experience. Athletes play in several games or performances throughout the week, with medals awarded to top finishers.

But it’s not just about winning — it’s about teamwork, sportsmanship, friendships, and having fun.

What is a delegation?

A delegation is a group of athletes from a specific city or JCC — in your case, Team Winnipeg! You’ll travel, train, and compete together as one team.

What is a mixed team?

If we don’t have enough athletes to form a full team, you may join a mixed team with athletes from other cities. This is super common — and a great way to meet new friends from all over the world!

How much does it cost?

The current estimated cost is $2,800 per athlete.
(This includes almost everything — see below.)

What’s included in the fee?

  • Maccabi Games registration
  • Flights/transportation
  • Uniform and Rady JCC Team Winnipeg gear
  • Coaches and staff supervision
  • Meals, lodging, & social events
  • Training/practices before the Games
  • All activities throughout the week

Are scholarships available?

We are working to secure partial subsidies for athletes.

If you would like to support the Rady JCC’s Team Winnipeg delegation, please email Boris Bursak. Any and all donations are welcome (and tax deductible!)

Are there chaperones?

Yes! Rady JCC’s Team Winnipeg will have adult staff with the team all week. Coaches and delegation heads are background-checked, trained, and there to support all athletes — on and off the field.

Where do athletes stay during the Games?

All athletes stay with local Jewish host families in Toronto from Sunday–Friday. It’s one of the coolest parts of the Maccabi experience! Families are screened, background-checked, and trained. They take care of breakfast, laundry, and rides to and from events. You can request a roommate and let us know about any allergies or dietary needs.

Is it safe?

Yes. Safety is a top priority. All staff and volunteers are background-checked, and credentials are required at all Maccabi venues. The host city works with local police and security teams to ensure everyone’s safety.

Is the food kosher? What about Shabbat?

Yes! All food is kosher, and there are no official activities during Shabbat so everyone can observe in their own way.

What happens in a medical emergency?

If there’s a medical emergency, the Delegation Head acts as guardian for the athletes and contacts parents right away. All treatment decisions are made together.

Can parents attend?

Absolutely! Parents and family can come as spectators and cheer from the stands. You’ll need to register and wear a spectator badge to attend events.

Just note: Parents can’t take athletes off-site or remove them from programming during the week. Athletes are busy with competitions, events, and team activities all day long!
