This year, we start with a knish and end on the dance floor.

From June 7 to June 13, 2026, the Rady JCC comes alive with music, film, food, dance, and unforgettable experiences as we celebrate the third annual Put a Yid On It! Festival of New Yiddish Culture.

This is not your typical festival. It is a joyful, creative, and welcoming space where tradition meets today, and where everyone is invited in. Whether you are discovering this world for the first time or reconnecting with something familiar, there is something here for you.

Yiddish is a language of humour, resilience, poetry, and everyday life once spoken by millions. Today, it is being reimagined by a new generation of artists, musicians, and creators who are bringing fresh energy to a rich cultural legacy.

Across one exciting week, you can dance, listen, watch, taste, and take part in experiences that are as meaningful as they are fun.

From hands-on workshops and family friendly events to powerful performances and live music, every moment is designed to bring people together.

All tickets must be purchased through the Rady JCC Digital Store by clicking here.

The ‘Put a Yid On It!’ Festival of Yiddish Culture is made possible through the generous support of The Asper Foundation and its Cultural Enrichment Initiative, along with the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba.

At the Rady JCC, we believe arts and culture bring people together in meaningful ways. Through this support, including a Jewish Community Impact and Ongoing Grant, as well as the Laurie Mainster Community Visionary Fund, and the I.L. Peretz Folk School Endowment Trust, both held at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, we are able to create welcoming, accessible experiences where people can connect, celebrate, and feel part of something special.

This festival is a reflection of that shared commitment. We are deeply grateful to our supporters for helping bring these moments to life and for ensuring that Jewish culture continues to be vibrant, evolving, and open to all.

A Message from 2026 Festival Producer Shira Newman

Hello Friends,

People often say that klezmer lives between a cry and a dance—moving, in a single phrase, from sorrow into joy. This festival moves in that spirit.

‘Put a Yid On It!’ celebrates the unfolding world of New Yiddish Culture as something living and in motion—carried across generations and reshaped in the present. Through music, dance, food, and film, we gather memory and invention, grief and celebration, all in one shared space.

This has been a complex time to be Jewish in the world. In moments like these, the unfolding world of New Yiddish Culture offers a way to connect—and this gathering is open to all. Whether you arrive with deep roots or simple curiosity, whether or not you know the language, you are welcome here.

Step into the circle—into the rhythm, the table, the story.

Moved by music, swept up in song and story, we come together in motion and in presence.

We’ll see you on the dance floor!

~ Shira
