BBYO is the world’s largest Jewish youth organization, with a membership base of almost 20,000 Jewish teenagers. Chapters are found in Canada, the United States, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Israel and all over continental Europe.

BBYO is also the largest Jewish youth group in the province! Members are divided into six chapters throughout greater Winnipeg. The brotherhood chapters of the AZA order (Aleph Zadik Aleph) include Alophim, Chadda and Eskimos and the region’s BBG (B’nai B’rith Girls) sisterhood chapters, consist of Bat Sheva, Chaverim and Gabriels. Winnipeg’s Red River Region offers its youth, from grades 9 to 12, valuable developmental skills that include leadership training, social programming, Jewish heritage, a connection to Israel, a chance to fundraise to support their activities and charitable projects and various community service experiences.

BBYO Red River Region is part of the larger International B’nai B’rith Youth Organization that is directed out of Washington, DC. The Rady Jewish Community Centre is the sponsor for the local program.

The staff and volunteer advisors provide the resources and support necessary to ensure that every member and every chapter achieve their goals. Financial assistance for programs is available from the BBYO Advisory Board.

Last year, our members worked with the Sharon Home, Winnipeg Harvest, Jewish Child and Family Service, the North End Women’s Centre and the Canadian Cancer Society. Plans for the rest of the year are even greater!

Membership is required to attend programs, conventions or participate in programs such as floor hockey at each chapter program.
